Gus Dudgeon

Gus was an eclectic and vivacious record producer. He helped shape British music in the 70s and 80s, working with artists such as David Bowie, Elton John and Chris Rea.

Gus was renowned as an experimental producer. His curiosity and willingness to experiment led him to recording groundbreaking tracks such as Bowie’s single ‘Space Oddity’ and many of Elton’s biggest hits.

After Gus’s untimely death in 2012, the Gus Dudgeon Foundation for Recording Arts was founded to preserve and promote his unique recording techniques. The Foundation runs a yearly summer programme which provides music students an opportunity to collaborate with artists and produce a record in Gus’s style.

Gus’s influence on Amy can be seen in her 70s aesthetic, her eclectic form and the musicality of her words. You can find her poetic tribute to Gus here.
